Guest guest
ok, good! Pictures would surely help. And when you do that, you should also send copies to Dr. Ponseti. We can take a look at his feet and tell you if something doesn't look quite right, however we are not doctors and Dr. Ponseti would be the one to consult on this for a definite answer. Walking on the side/edge of the foot may indicate a relapse. Being that your son has obviously had Ponseti treatment if relapse has occurred (which can and does happen occasionally) it should be relatively easy for a Ponseti Doctor to re-cast to correct it. Re-casting is the first step with these feet and in most cases (nearly ALL!) it can be corrected as quick and painless as it was initially. Then back to the FAB brace (DBB - what he wears now) and the hours may be increased as well for a short time. If you would like to show us pictures of his feet, please take this series as Dr. Ponseti will want to see these kinds of pictures: 1 - from front and back (directly - not off to either side) with him standing on a hard surface as he normally stands. View should be from the knees down (get camera down on the floor to take pics) 2 - from each side with him standing (same position as before, just showing right and left feet from the side) 3 - The soles of his feet 4 - Side view (profile) of each foot separately with you using your whole palm to push his foot/toes as far up towards his head (dorsiflexion) as possible. Keep the sole of the foot flat with your palm. You want to show how far past " L " (0 degrees or Neutral) his foot can dorsiflex. 5 - any video of him walking or running if you have it. (this would be for Dr. Ponseti - the file would probably be too large to send through yahoo) We have an email list dedicated to sharing photos (feet and faces!) at yahoo. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/CFPics/ A file will be sent to the email address you use to subscribe. In that file is a short survey which needs to be returned. Just copy the survey, reply to the email that included the file and paste your answers into the body of the email. We will approve you as soon as that survey is returned. Then, you can send an email to the list addy, CFPics and attach your photos. Yahoo rejects files larger than 1mb so you'll want to make sure they are resized down to around 100-300kb each to be able to send more than one in each email to the list. If you need photo editing software, this program is freeware (really, really free! forever!) and quite easy to use. www.irfanview.com is where you can download it. Any other questions please let us know. I will be looking for your request for membership and survey at CFPics and get you approved as soon as possible!
