Guest guest
The rubber from one of the heel 'windows' is starting to tear on Sierra's shoes...any suggestions? Our next appt is July 10th with Dr. Ponseti, and we are supposed to get her fitted for new shoes then. Will they last that long? Thanks for your help and suggestions. Guest guest
Jescie, I'm not sure how long Sierra's pair will last. But ... Lily's seemed to just disinegrate over night. No tears one day - the next day both pairs were torn in the heels. I think folks have used moleskin or the like to keep them together until they were able to get a new pair. We actually used duct tape (had to be careful to keep it smooth). We contacted the next morning. He & worked with us to get a new pair out to us the following day (Lily was ready for a new size & her shoes were more than six months old, so we paid for the new pair. If your pair is relatively new, he's likely to replace them free of charge.) Guest guest
they should last, but get them stuck together asap to keep them from tearing more. You can use moleskin, just cut it to fit the area and put a large piece on both the inside and outside (and if you can, wrap it over the edge of the hole in the heel because that's where it'll pull apart first even after you repair it. a little creativity with *darts* or little triangles on the edge where it curves around the hole will help you wrap it over the edge. If needed, use a pen and draw on the paper side of the moleskin through the hole so you know where to cut - gosh, this doesn't make sense at all does it? sorry!). That should keep it together till the appointment. Darbi has worn hers all broken up for a few months now with the moleskin holding them together. However, if it breaks enough to allow slop in the heel I'd say not to wait and contact ASAP about this. I wouldn't trust a sloppy heel on a little one like Sierra, Darbi is 3yo and well corrected so a tad bit of slop doesn't seem to bother her. I'd be nervous about allowing this with a younger foot for too long though.
