Guest guest
Having been on this list and studied the DS procedure for almost 2 years now, this is my opinion on the post op diet thing from the research I have read, the anecdotal stories I have heard, and the deductions I have made (this could be scary)! This is just my opinion! 1. If you are going for " thin " , like in what the met charts say or a not overweight at all BMI, then your best bet is to go low carb for at least 6 months possibly the entire weight loss period. 2. If you are going for " normal " , stay away from sugar for the first 6 months to possibly the entire weight loss period. 3. If you are going for " not really fat anymore " , it is a no brainer and you just need to get your protein in first. Now some of us luck out and just go for " not, really fat anymore " because we (meaning at least me) have not for a long time been able to do any more dieting or restricting of foods. I just didn't have any dieting or restriction of certain foods in me anymore. I did number 3 but ended up as number 2. I think I was just lucky (and Dr. Hess really somehow knew who I was when he gave me a 50 cm common channel). However, when I did number 3, I realized it might have meant only getting down to " not really fat " which for me I think would have been about 200. But I would have been o.k. with that because that is when I felt " normal " again. In my opinion following either 1, 2, or 3 above just hedges you bet on getting to that point. Don't know if I made any sense!
