Guest guest
Hi everyone, I need some advice. Jonah woke up sick today with a fever and a bit of a cold. He threw up once today, once on Saturday and once on Sunday. I don't think it is a stomach bug because he ate well yesterday after throwing up. Today he just was not feeling good and did not want to eat, so he has been admitted to the hospital on D10 since he was spilling a lot of ketones. Since this seems different from a stomach bug, what would you suggest in terms of how long we should keep in on the IV? When do you think we could take him off and try straight foods? Am I correct in saying that first the blood sugar drops and then you start to spill ketones? Dr. H. has told us just to check ketones, she never mentioned checking his blood sugar. Should we be doing that to? When does the hypoglycemia set in, before the spilling of the ketones or after? Hope this makes sense. I have to get back to the hospital, but we will be checking our e-mails. Thanks so much. , Jonah's mom
