Guest guest
Today I went to the post office and mailed 12 boxes of clothes all over the country to people who have been switched or are about to be switched. Two of the boxes were for women who needed maternity clothes. I made quite a spectical of myself carrying all those boxes into the post office. It was pretty busy there so I just stacked them in a corner as I brought them in. All the people in line were getting quite a show from watching me. When I finally got the last box in, I got in line. A woman came in after me and made a comment about how long the line was. I said that I wasn't about to come back another time and pointed to the pile of boxes. She asked me if they were all Christmas gifts and I explained they were clothes I had shrunk out of. She was MO herself so when she asked how I lost the weight, I told her all about the surgery. She decided to stay in line and talk to me about it. We waited for about 15 minutes and I told her all about my experience and how DS is different from what she knew of RNY. In the end I had given her a business card from my doctor's office and she said she was going to call tomorrow. I just felt so good that not only was I helping fellow DS'ers by sending them clothes, I also taught someone new about DS. I honestly feel that the best things in life come from when you give something of yourself. Kathy M. DS 7/19/01 pre-op 213 146 and size 12!
