Guest guest
Hi everyone, Since Hanna was born in early August I've found myself to be very busy (go figure) and I literally have not visited this group in ages!! It looks like there are lots of new members who I am looking forward to learning about. Anyway, Dalia is almost 23 months old and is doing well. She just took her first independent steps this past week!! It is so cute because she is so proud of herself and smiles so big when she does it...makes me want to cry every time from joy! Well, she still has a bit to go before she will walk exclusively I think, but she's well on her way...it's a matter of continuing to strengthen her right side to help with the balance...we just moved into a new house a few weeks ago and the 15 step staircase up to the second floor I think has aided in her strengthening (it's also added more gray hairs to my head since she constantly wants to climb stairs and I can't let her do it alone yet)... Dalia is still not chewing any food and we have a ST come to the house twice a week to work on this...she is tolerating thicker foods and even small pieces, but she swallows everything whole, so the chewing is critical right now...I think this is one of the most difficult things to deal with especially with 2 kids now and Dalia needing to be spoon fed still..Does anyone have any tricks or hints on helping Dalia feel confident enough to chew a piece of food???? She is sipping from a straw now and that is good, although she is still on the bottle for the bulk of her liquids. I want to change this but I worry that her intake will not be good enough if I impose a new method of drinking. I sometimes think she might have a couple of cavities in her molars and I need to take her to the dentist to see, but if so it is from the bottle for sure...and the fact that she hates to brush her teeth and basically won't let me do it enough to make a difference. We have an appointment with the local endo on Wed to see about starting growth hormone...I am so excited and nervous...I will keep you posted. I figure I should mention her sister Hanna...boy is she big! I am not used to this...she is 90% for weight and 50-75% for height....huge cheeks and thighs, cute as a button and she loves her big sister already. I will post a recent picture very soon... Take care, Sheryl (Dalia, 22 mos - RSS and Hanna, 2 mos - non-RSS)
