Guest guest
Hi , Welcome!! Please do not think you are rambling, your concerns are very valid. This is why we're here and we would love to hear more about your amazing son! Can you tell us more about his treatment thus far? How was he treated initially and what kind of bracing does he use right now? Where are you located and what physician does he see for his clubfoot? Has he had any surgery on his feet? If so, can you describe it for us? sorry for all the questions, but we need to know these things before we can help you troubleshoot this properly. Please be as detailed as possible, describe the casts and duration of casting (how many casts, what did they look like, how often changed, etc.), any surgeries (was it a simple percutaneous tenotomy which is a quick tiny nick to the Achilles tendon that does not need stitches or was there more involvement?), what kind of bracing and how long/often does he wear it, and anything else that comes to mind. Don't worry about length of your post, just tell us everything you can k? Enjoy that warm weather... it's raining here, as usual :~} Kori Darbi's Mama Rt. Guest guest
Hi Kori, My son was born in Hamilton On and was immediately put in casts. The casts ranged from below knee to above knee to all the way up to his hips. At 3 weeks old he had his achilles nicked (no stitches were required). At 10 months old we were told the dr. wanted to break both legs and reset them. My husband and I refused the surgery (thankfully). I contacted Dr. Ponseti and he put me in touch with Dr. Carey in London Ontario. After 3 castings his little feet were perfect and he did not require his achilles being severed. Dr. Carey has put in the Dennis Brown Bar since last June and is doing very well with it. He wears teh bar just a bedtime and he sleeps for 12 hours a night. did physio until he started walking and at that point physio said he was basically doing his own therapy and there was no need to continue. HE does walk... with a bit of a swing of the legs and he does NOT bend his knees when he walks. He also cannot jump. He does wear orthotics in his hightops to keep his toes from turning in. Woudl pics of his feet help? If so where do I send them too? I hope this helps, > >Hi there, my little guy was born with bilateral clubfeet and is now > >2.5 years old. Guest guest
Hi , My 3 1/2 year old without clubfeet still cannot jump properly so I wouldn't worry about that at 2 1/2 years old. I can't remember exactly but I don't think he ran properly at 2 1/2 years old either (he learned to walk at 17 months). I'm not quite sure what you mean by your son's ankles turning over so I can't comment on that. But what you said about his foot print sounds like he might be walking on the side of his foot. Is he doing that all the time? I think I would be concerned if he was since it could be a sign that the foot is not properly corrected. I'm no expert on this though. Have you considered getting a second opinion? with (3.5y) and Alister (3.5y, right CF, Ponseti method, UK) --- johnsmommy7 wrote: > Hi there, my little guy was born with bilateral > clubfeet and is now > 2.5 years old.
