Guest guest
... Sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment about the doctors here in Florida. Something was wrong with my Yahoo account and it just got up and running again today. You were asking about the doctors that I took to see in Florida. I normally wouldn't bad-mouth doctors on a chat group like this, but since they all screwed up my kids feet and I now have to travel to Baltimore and see Dr. Herzenberg because of the lack of good orthopedic surgeons in this lovely state, I will share their names with you...(and anyone else who may be reading this!!!) We live in South Florida... so our first doctor was Theresa Rattey, located in Boynton Beach, who serial casted him for 2 months when he was little then said that he needed to have the surgery where they re-align the bones in his feet (forgot the name of it). She even scheduled it for us. I said " what about the brace? " She told us that his feet weren't getting corrected with the casts, so she wanted to just try surgery instead. Obviously that was a red flag and we left her practice. Then we went to Bret Baynham in Palm Beach Gardens. He was actually a very nice doctor, got 's feet straightened out with some more casts, did the tenotomy, casted again and he was in the DBB's. kept on getting out of them every night and I just knew that his feet weren't corrected. So I decided to take him to Dr. Romano in Plantation for another opinion. He is the only one out of the 3 doctors that is actually on Dr. Ponseti's list of trained doctors. The others just said they used the Ponseti method. Well ,when turned 2 I took him in for a check-up and Dr. Romano said his feet were relapsing and would need the ATT surgery when he turns 3. He said to leave his feet as they are now (turned in) and wait a year to do surgery. That was not an acceptable answer to me, so I did some research and booked a flight to Baltimore and saw the AMAZING Dr. Herzenberg. This is 's 4th ortho and finally the only one that is helping his feet. He has been in casts for 3 weeks, they come off next week. Dr. H said we have avoided doing any further surgery just by putting casts on for a month. I am just so happy that we found him and so sorry that I didn't listen to my gut and take him there sooner. Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to let anyone else reading this know to listen to YOUR gut and if you aren't satisfied with your child's ortho, look elsewhere. It isn't worth wasting treatment time on your child's precious little feet with a doctor who isn't actually doing the REAL Ponseti method!!! So , who did you see in Florida?
