I wish that we had started out this way, but since day one for Piper, it was on

a spoon, forced into her mouth, so she has developed a very negative association

with a spoon, and therefor getting her to take her enzymes has been a daily

challenge. I am about ready to throw in the towel!!!!

My daughter is on Ultrase, she is almost 15 months, we dip our finger in

applesauce or milk and then into the beads and put them in her mouth on

her tongue. I usually follow this with something to drink or eat.

We've been doing it since day 1, it was the way they told us to do it

with breastfeeding. Sometimes she'll take them on a spoon if I put them

in something she really likes and give her a bite first without any

enzymes. I also try to distract her so she doesn't see me open the

capsules and dump them out. Good luck, hope this helps!

HELP!

I am open for ANY AND ALL suggestions, tips, advice, etc on getting my

daughters enzymes in her. She is 18 months, and her doc just recently

changed her from Creon 10 (which we could just put through her button)

to Ultrase MT-12 (which will not go through her button). When I mix

them with ANYTHING, she pushes the beads out with her tongue. I am

about ready to pull my hair out, HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Katy,

Don't know anything about those tubes. My daughter has been swallowing

them since 3 weeks old. We started with apple puree and mixing the

beads in. Then when she was about 4 we opened the capsules and tipped

them in with a drink to swallow. Then when they switched her to Creon

(1/2 the size of pancrease) she just threw them in her mouth. What

about pure and simple bribery. Is there some special lollies or

chocolate she could have only when she has her enzymes? Sorry if not

much help. Good luck.

Katy,

let her have a taste of whatever it is you are about to feed her, then say " no

more until you take your enzymes " . She will learn that you are not kidding if

you put the food away if she refuses (ok I gave several chances). This

is how we had to do it with . Right now she is controlling things and you

have to get the control back. I know it stinks but she has to learn. you can

get the viokase powdered enzymes for tube feeds it will go through the button,

but do not use it for regular food and drinks, only for tube feeds. (it will

help you to not feel bad about not giving her the food if you can hook her up to

a tube feed, but she will learn that if it goes in her mouth, she must have

enzymes)

We were advised not to give any enzymes or meds through the tube and then

feed her so she wouldn't rely on the tube for the yucky meds and stuff, because

it would cause a problem when we take the tube out and she has to take them

orally. The only med that we put through the tube is the vitamin K because I

" melt " it in hot water and send it through her tube in the middle of a feed. I

do that because the " crush it up and put it in the food " method wasn't working

because she wouldn't eat all the food and then she wasn't getting all the

vitamin.......

Good luck, I know how hard it is to fight with them to take their enzymes, I

hope that since Piper is older than was when we had to fight that she

learns faster than did.

My daughter, Abbey 8 weeks old RCF, is already in the bar and shoes.

She has the white leather sandle like shoes that lace up. I cannot get

her RCF heel to stay down properly in the shoe. I have tried different

socks, adjusting the shoe, etc. Any ideas? I don't want her foot to

revert back to what it was or point downward to cause another problem

later on. Any advice would be great!
