Guest guest
My sister is married to a man from Venezuela who is of mixed heritage. Her pediatrician didn't want to test either of her boys when was diagnosed for the same reason, " Hispanic people don't get CF " . Luckily they are both fine and are HUGE for their ages and never have any resp. probs. My other sister is married to a man from Spain. (Spanish is considered European though) Her ped sweat tested ALL of her kids, even her oldest daughter who is bi-racial and who is not his biological kid. The oldest had MANY health problems as an infant (lots of resp issues as well as reflux & trouble gaining weight) and is still the skinniest kid you would ever meet. Her youngest has serious allergies, anaphylaxis and asthma so there was concern for both kids. All of them are fine though. UMM just a though/random question that people of Hispanic countries might ask these docs who tell them that they " don't get CF " . HOW DID PEOPLE FROM " HISPANIC " COUNTRIES GET THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IN THEIR CULTURE IF NOT FROM THE MIXING IN OF EUROPEAN SPANIARDS? The same goes for Brazillians, How else if not from the EUROPEAN Portuguese? Just thinking out loud Re: Questions and Comments about CF?PATTIE and listers I have to agree with one of the main reasons they didn't want to test Christian is because my husband is Hispanic. Hispanics don't get cf .. yeah right. Tina Mom to Christian 12 yowcf
Guest guest
Here in Southern Cal there are MANY pwcf who are Mexican. In clinic and the hospital they are often needing to call interpreters. One of my good friends I met through her son who is 's age and we met at the parents support group when our kids were about 2. Her (ex) husband is Mexican and her parents are both from Mexico, although her dad has blue eyes and blond hair (used to). Her son Victor used to be blond and has blue eyes. I guess they have a lot of spanish or whatever. Anyway, I know a lot of pwcf as aquaintances who are hispanic. The rest of the country should wake up. love,
