Guest guest
Poncho and everyone else, Thanks for responding to my email and thanks for the information. I live in Hurst, TX.. between Dallas and Fort Worth. Dr. Ferney is my Gastroenterologist and my Primary Intern Dr. is Dr. Karing. I think I've always known that what I have wasn't curable but I'm always open to new information. I have a friend who is trying Holistic alternatives. She went to a Holistic Chiropractor for her pancreas pains. She says it works for her but I'm always the skeptic. Has anyone tried any of these types of alternatives??? Dawn, Many people with CP find regular chiropractic care an important part of their treatment. I see a chiropractor whenever my pains are severe enough to cause back and shoulder discomfort. It doesn't happen on a regular basis, but when I do experience a severe episode, his treatment does help me. Some people also find acupuncture helpful, I haven't tried that yet, but would consider it if there was continuing problems. If you go to our library at: www/top5plus5.com/ you will find a section there that discusses alternative therapies for chronic pancreatitis. There is a lot of great information on that Pancreatitis website, which was developed by one of our members, Mark Armstrong. Luckily (?), my pancreas burned out a year and a half ago and my pains are not of the same intensity as before. I have two pseudocysts and the only time I have a severe episode is when the pseudocysts become inflamed....no one can tell me what causes that inflamation. Even with a burned out pancreas, I still have CP and still need the pain management and diet control as before. I've become a type 1 brittle diabetic as a result of my pancreas burn out. Hopefully your gastroenterologist has given you instruction on low fat diets and has put you on pancreatic enzymes to take whenever you eat. The diet and the enzymes do a lot to help reduce pancreatic pain. I also hope that your doctor has initiated appropriate pain medications to help you through any pain sessions. Many of us go to a pain managment doctor for our analgesic prescriptions. Don't hesitate to ask any questions that you can think of. Someone always has some kind of helpful answer.
