I watched this show last night with . Steph was so mad. She said.

" Mom! There are 13 and 14year old girls who watch this show and this ie

girl is drinking and smoking and making it look like it is ok to do that.

Not a good role model for other CF girls who are at that age where they need

positive role models. " Did anybody else watch this?

i can't wait to see natalia's response to this girl smoking. its' just sad

that when someone has such a huge stage to educate people about CF and they

absolutely blow it. just sad.

You are so right . I bet Natalia would trade places with her in a

heartbeat. Some people just don't get it.

Nicely said Patty! I watched it this afternoon and found ie to

be not unlike any other young adult. I mean who are we to judge?

This girl did not ask to be the poster child for CF. She is just

living her life. How many of us do things that we should'nt do

because it could jeopardize our health? Do we all exercise and eat

the way we should to ensure that we live longer? The part that

grabbed me was that two of the girls knew what CF is. One girls

Mom's brother died when he was six and so she is aware of the

seriousness. The other girl was in tears after ie told her she

had CF. So there was definitly an impact made. Hopefully ie's

roomates will help and be supportive of her. All she wants is to be

treated like a " normal " person, not a person who is ill. ie

said " I have never felt sick " , so perhaps she has " mild cf " ( sorry

I could not resist that one, please pardon my sarcasm). It is my

opinion that ie knows what she is doing and will eventually

learn the consequences of her actions, that is all a part of growing

up. Besides, how many kids get the chance to be on MTV? What an

oppourtunity of a lifetime for her! She is probably living her

dream, and by the looks of it she is living her life to the fullest,

which is what we all wish for our children.

e, who has learned the meaning of the word " epistle " and is

not afraid to use it!

  • 10 months later...

I watched it last night and was very disappointed. CF finally gets some

awareness on a network that really could have done something with it. Maybe

later in the season things will change, but ie had a really bad impression

on me. She kept saying that she wanted to be " somebody else " on this show - -

ever think about being a spokesperson for this disease? Anyways, it killed me

to see her putting that cigarette to her mouth. My husband got so disgusted her

left the room.

They have some " ignorant comments " on the message board on MTV.com, but they

also have some interesting ones from CF'rs that responded. I only hope that in

some sort of twisted events that this opens the world's eyes to this disease. .

.. it could happen.
