Guest guest
Folks, My 11 yr old son, Cameron is down with an attack (sort of). I am at my wit's end trying to figure out what is going on. He was diagnosed at 7 with Chronic Idiopathic pancreatitis with Acute attacks. He is adult size (5'4 " 128lbs). He has had a few attacks the past couple of years, but only one really bad one about a month ago, lasting for 3 weeks! He seemed to be over that attack about a week, school started, he made 3 days, then BOOM...down again. Only this is not his typical pancreatic pain. He is having sharp abdominal pains just to the right and below the belly button. He almost describes a hernia-type discomfort....There is no discoloration at the sight. This morning he woke up with sharp sharp sharp pain in that same spot and now also in his lower back. The lower back pain is a spot, not an " area " . It is directly center....just at the top of his " plummer's smile " (butt crack). Before the pain this morning, I was chasing things online that sounded like perhaps he is having liver problems? maybe even sickle-cell issues? I am trying not to jump into anything, but this kiddo is sick and I his doctors keep running the same ol' same ol' on him unless I suggest a different venue for them to follow. They have done amylase & lipase (only slightly elevated - almost 3 X normal), CT scan, MRI, Ultrasound, Xrays. Nothing stands out anywhere on any test, to any doctor. Is anyone familiar with this lower pain on the right...with the additional sharp isolated back pain? This is new for either of us. Cam has an appointment with his pedia-gastro doc this afternoon at 1:30, but she is not exactly the warmest of doctors, so it is not easy to get her undivided attention. (She is the only specialist in FW for children.) Suggestions to ask or try? Thanks for anything yall can suggest, Donna Womack Fort Worth, TX
