Guest guest
, I too have had similar episodes and similar experiences at the ER. Go when in extreme pain, run bloodwork, fill you up with pain meds and then send you home. I'm sure you know the drill by now. I too have had barely nothing show up on all my tests (ERCP, MRCP, x- ray). Then last year they kept on seeing a small stone in the bile duct and my primary doc and I both thought that it was the cause of my ongoing symptoms. I had already had a biliary sphincterotomy. So I went back to the GI specialist and he did another ERCP to remove the stone and flush the bile duct. When I woke he said he found nothing and he hadn't a clue why I was getting more atacks. So I sought out this group and went to a highly recommended doc. He found out that my pancreatic duct has very high pressure and doesn't open and close properly to let out the panc juices, therefor I come down with pancreattis. I was treated with another sphincterotomy and temporary stent. It seems to help for a little while, but now I still am back to having pain again. The current treatment seems to be pain meds, and panc enzymes, and possible further stenting. My primary doc seems to think that my body is forming small stones in the bile duct and then they are getting caught temporarily at the opening near the panc duct causing an attack of pancreatitis. So I guess I have the 2 things going on (the small stones and high pancreatic duct pressure). Hope some of this helps. Kris in TN
