Guest guest
Hi all....thanks for all of your kind thoughts and words before I took off for Indiana. Well, Dr. Lehman performed the ERCP with manometry and as it turned out I do have SOD (which I suspected all along)...he performed a sphincterotomy and put in a temporary stent that I guess passes on it's own w/in a couple of weeks (if any of you can tell me more about that I'd appreciate it!) I'm not doing too well, the flights home yesterday were awful...but took my Mom's advice and had wheelchairs meet me at each gate for the walks across the airport to my next gate (just one connecting flight each way.) I'm hurting pretty badly today but wanted to add that he has a couple of colleagues (who apparently learned how to do the ERCPs with manometry from him - he's the man for those I guess!) so I have an appointment in Providence (about 20 mins from me) on the 14th of September. We'll see how it goes..I'm anxious to be under the care of a local GI who actually KNOWS something and will go from there. Anyway..I participated in a research program that he and his colleagues at Indiana University Med Ctr are conducting...in fact I am the FIRST participant!! It is to study the effect of taking a -2 inhibitor drug (which in my case happened to be Vioxx - and yes, I read the studies regarding heart related problems the VERY next day in the papers) 15 hrs prior and then again 3 hrs prior to having an ERCP in an effort to see if it prevents people from getting an acute panc attack post-ERCP. It is a double blind study (meaning even the docs don't know if you're getting Vioxx or a placebo) and will include about 500 participants over a period of a year. Thanks for all of your kind words and prayers....hope you're all well. I'm going to try and read/catch up on the posts but wanted to let you all know I am back. love to you all
