Guest guest
Hi there, My son Shaelin would not take the Ultrase no matter what I put it in when he was younger. He would gag as soon as I came near him with the spoon and then vomit if I did manage to get it into his mouth. It must have felt like I had mixed sand in his fruit. We switched to Pancrecarb MS-4 and I no longer had any problems. His stools also improved on this enzymes. Hope this helps. Guest guest
We had the same problem with the MT-12's. Zach was crunching them up. We are on Pancrecarb MS-4's now. Can't really recommend them for weight gain, but Zach's bowel movements are better. Zach has always taken his enzymes in applesauce. If he refuses, I just set his plate aside until he is more cooperative. However, it sounds like your baby is having some oral sensitivity and gagging. This may sound extreme, but have you checked with an early intervention program. They have specialists that deal with just this type of thing. They can teach you how to " play " with the food and help alleviate some of her aversion to it. Zach is in an early intervention program for his gross motor and speech delays. The therapists really know their stuff. Usually these programs are free too so that is a big bonus. Just a thought. Hope things start to improve. I know how stressful enzyme time can get around our house too. Sara > Can you just ask about using Ultrase regular (microspheres) instead of the MT-12's? Some of the parents on this list have commented about trying the MT-12's. Some responses of children have been to try to chew them. My son is 2 and we tried them at around 1 or 1.5, we thought we could give him less enzymes if we went up to the MT-12's, but he was already resisting enzymes and he resisted these more. We went back to the regular Ultrase capsules and they are easier now that he is not eating volumes of formula. He needs less since he is eating a lot of low or no fat food. We also found that he likes eating them in squash and sweet potatoes instead of applesauce. Our nutritionist told us at one point to try putting them in ANYTHING, yogurt, etc... that he would eat. As long as you fed them right away, it was more important to get them in. > > > mom to Henry 2 wcf > > >
