Guest guest
The intro diet would be very helpful in clearing out more bad flora in her gut. What exactly ish she eating right now? Meleah Intro diet question One more question please...My 3 1/2 year old (asd)never did any intro diet and been on diet for 1 month. She never had constipation or diarrhoea. She also loves any food so was already eating most of the healthy stuff. She had a die off reaction just from cutting out grains and sugar and was much happier all round. I also do not think she would touch the list of food for intro diet. What does anyone think?
Guest guest
Many parents have started the diet just the way you have.... because they thought their child would not eat any of the intro foods. After being on SCD for a little while, MANY kids are more accepting of those intro foods. MANY parents have then gone back and done a day or two of intro and been very pleased with the additional boost in healing that it has given. Take a look at www.pecanbread.com under " Food Preparation " , then " ASD Intro Diet " for kid-friendly ideas on how to make the intro foods more appealing to her. Guest guest
Hello Robin, Yeah she is eating everything on the legal list. She really loves everything and the diet is not hard at all for me. It is summer here in Australia and we have so many fruits out. She is eating tones of them. I have her on probiotics and oils. I actually got the diet originally from another book which was based on scd diet but only listed legal foods and did not mention intro diet. > robin wrote: > > The intro diet would be very helpful in clearing out more bad flora in > her gut. Guest guest
Thank you Patti, That might work. I also am thinking of trying the yoghurt now even though I have ingrained in me that I must not give her any dairy. After reading many messages I think I should give it a go. Can anyone simply tell me where I can get yoghurt maker and dairy free starter in Australia. I am really keen now. > Patti wrote: > > Many parents have started the diet just the way you have.... because > they thought their child would not eat any of the intro foods. Guest guest
What fruits is she eating? Are you pealing, seeding, and cooking them? What about vegetables? I would strongly encourage you to do the intro diet. You'd be surprised that she might eat the food. Honestly, it's no big deal if she doesn't as long as she is keeping hydrated. It's only a couple of days. If she isn't having diharea issues, I'd do the intro for two days. Offer her the intro diet foods, and if she doesn't eat them...oh well. I don't say that lightly either. I think it is very important to do the intro diet to clear out as much bad stuff in her gut as possible. After the intro, I'd start through the healing stages again. This means that fruits and vegetables should be pealed, seeded, and cooked. There is a chart on pecanbread.com under food preparation. It is listed under beyond the intro diet. It isn't the stages Bible, but it gives you a very good idea of what types of foods are easiest for her body to digest...which is going to speed along the healing. Only introduce a couple of new foods per week, so you can figure out if certain foods irritate her gut, cause behavioral changes, ect. I really think this is important. Guest guest
Hello, she is eating all summer fruits, plums/peaches/watermelon/cherries/berries, the list is endless. She also eats raw veges for lunch (salad) and cooked veges for dinner. I can see your point but my dilemma is that she has such a wide variety that she eats (and I have 3 other young children around) and she is very high functioning so will ask for things. I guess where there is a will there is a way. > robin wrote: > > What fruits is she eating? Are you pealing, seeding, and cooking them? > What about vegetables? Guest guest
We started my son on stage 1 for about 25 days without doing the intro (by mistake)when we went back to the intro for 3 days we saw die off again. So, I would go back for a few days. I'm so glad that we did it. By the way I saw my son's GI doc yesterday who specializes in kids with ASD and he said that the SCD was a very good thing to be doing. Guest guest
Tricia, Who is your son's GI doctor? Guest guest
Do you mind sharing your son's GI docs name? We like to remember those names for others to be able to use in the future. Guest guest
Dr. Krigsman @ the Thoughtful House. We put our son on the SCD after trying pentasa without much luck for 4 weeks. When I told him we went SCD and asked what he thought about it he says that the more limited the diet for these kids the better. (At least for a while.) Guest guest
Thank you Tricia, you have confirmed what I should do. Jenna 31/2 also with a-typical autism and doing great on diet but I will try intro to help further. We are in Australia, thank you so much. Can you also tell me what oils you give, I just read that DHA junior not legal. Do you give any vitamins. I have read the list but do not know what to choose. trishkasouth wrote: We started my son on stage 1 for about 25 days without doing the intro (by mistake)when we went back to the intro for 3 days we saw die off again. Guest guest
You could do the chicken salad no problem. Chicken broth is very soothing, but no required on the intro. Many parents are able to sneak a bit into diluted juice though. Meleah Intro Diet Question The intro diet on pecanbread.com days that egg salad is OK with homemade mayo. Does this mean I can also give him checken salad with homemade mayo? He eats chicekn salad almost every day anyway, and I'd be SO happy if this is OK for intro diet. Also ... is the broth of significance in the intro diet, or is it OK to just skip it. I doubt he'll drink it, although I coudl syringe some into his mouth. I don't like to do that though, as we have dealt with oral aversions for the past 2 years, and I hate to do anything to set him back.
