As a technician, do you have any recommendations for a car seat for a child that is about to turn 4 and is 42ish pounds. Because he is a large child and outgrew his convertable car seat at age 2, he has been in a 5-point restraint booster seat, but the harness is getting snug and I looked it up and found out that the harness is only good until 40 pounds. I know that he could technically go to a lap belt booster, but I worry about whether that is the safest option. So, I started looking into getting him another seat that will take him up to a higher weight. Any thoughts from an expert? carseat and StarbandHI Kara!I'm a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Your son's head shouldnot be slumping forward if he is rear facing. (Band or not). The angleshould reclined enough to prevent that. It sounds like you just need tore-install it at a more reclined angle.Hope that helps!

I am also anxious to hear your response. My son is 3 1/2 and 55 pounds! He is only in the bottom part of a booster. I know that is probably not the best option! This isn't appropriate until age 4, right???
