Guest guest
Sandy, Don't let what that doctor said get you down! I've heard of one woman from another support group who had had CP and too many attacks to count and was still going fine after 35 years with it. While I'm sure that each acute attack compromises us just a little bit more, I think there's only a small percentage of people with CP who actually die from it, most die from other causes. You're only in trouble if you have an attack where there's severe organ shut down and all your other organs are affected, and the highest number of patients that this happens to are alcoholic's with CP who just couldn't put down the bottle. I don't want to look all the statistics up now, but this is not something you need to dwell on just because that doctor was on an ego trip. About your weight, I, too, believe that some people have a genetic disposition to be at the weight they are, whether it is thin or fat. They may diet to be thin, but take away the impossible diet that got them there, and their metabolism will return them to just where they were before. The same goes for thin people, you can try and try to gain weight over and above what you normally are at on a stable, healthy diet by eating calorie laden food and fats and all, and that person may gain weight, but put them back on their normal daily diet, and they will return to where they originally were. For example, for the last 35 years, with the exception of my drastic CP caused 30 pound weight loss and regain, which happened twice during a four year period, (and my pregnancies, of course), I have always weighed between 122-126. Before CP I would call it my winter weight and my summer weight. My pharmacist made up some Lidocaine Viscous for a tooth ache that I had last year and I just found the bottle with some of the liquid remaining this morning. I think it's just like the stuff that the dentist injects with a needle to numb a site, at least that's the way it tastes. So I've been applying that to my gums where it hurts so badly and it taking away the pain for a few hours at a time. (Big smile!!!) There's not much else I can do because both my dentist and my dental surgeon are out of town together this week.....on a trip to Mexico with their wives! My GI doctor said he read an article about pain that rated the three worst pains in this order: 1) tooth ache pain 2) chronic pancreatitis pain 3) kidney stone pain He told my husband about this article on the day that he admitted me to the hospital last year. He was trying to describe for my husband the intensity of CP pain for a person who had never experienced the pain of chronic pancreatitis. Fortunately, my number 2 pain is non-existant today, and as far as number 3 goes, my kidneys have never had any sign of stones or any problems whatsoever, (knock on wood). As long as I've only got one of the three I think I'll manage okay! I hope your referral went through and you get some good news about the other doctor. Have a great week, and try to forget about that other doctor. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Rep. Guest guest
Heidi, I am not in the right frame of mind typing today. I wrote to you earlier and said. " " I feel so bad for you going through all the pain with your teeth. We all know how bad pancreas pain is BUT tooth pain can be less painful, or at least seems that way. " WHat I meant to say is that tooth ache pain can be AS PAINFUL as a pancreatic attack. My head is in a fog. Im sorry I didn't type that right. What was in my brain surely didn't come out correctly onto the paper. Thank goodness for spell check. Sorry if I hurt your feelings in anyway. I wasn't trying to minimize your tooth problems in anyway Sandy > >
Guest guest
Hi! I just wanted to share something with you....I talked to my son last night. He may not have to go to the state Penn to do his time after all. I'm hoping he will be able to stay in the county jail where he isn't as likely to get raped or killed. He did get jumped once already, but he wasn't hurt. The stress this kid causes me! Anyway, will you keep in in your prayers? Thanks, Deanna Tubb New Mexico
