I know how proud you must be of your daughters! With their support you will

be so successful with anything you may choose to do -- not just the MGB. I

have no doubt you will be in that 5K race!!! Thank you for sharing your

letter. I am assembling my packet too...:)

, You have every right to be proud. You're a good mom. What better

thing to be, than a good mom? You make us proud to know you. I suspect

there are a boatload of good moms right around here. And a bunch of good

dads, and good firends, and good daughters, and just plain good people.

Right here on this site. I find them to be exceptional!

My daughter wrote a wonderful letter to Dr. R for me. I thought I would share

it as an example of a good letter, not to mention a moms bragging rights.

Dear Dr. Rutledge,

My sister and I have put much consideration into our mother,

Rozycki, having the mini-gastric bypass surgery. I have researched the

procedure on your web site and realize this procedure is a substantial risk.

and I have been forced to think about risks to our mother's health and

well being by being morbidly obese.

Over many years, my sister and I have watched our mother try every diet

imaginable. We have even witnessed my mother losing her gallbladder due to the

effect of the Optifast diet many years ago. It is difficul to watch someone who

tries so hard not to succeed in her endeavors. It was even harder to see our

mother keep gaining additional weight with each diet. This surgery has given

and I hope that

our mother can lead a healthy and long life!

My mother has been the most influential person in my life. She has always been

my strength when I needed her to be. I am the well rounded woman I am today due

to her nurturing and guidance. , who is 15, is going through her

metamorphosis now and is becoming a beautiful, strong and intelligent young

adult. Our mother means everything to us. This brings me back to the issue of

risk. We believe the risk of this surgery is well worth it. If our mother were

not approved for the surgery she would continue down the same path. We want our

mother here with us to see graduate from college and to see me give birth

to my first child when the time comes.

and I understand there will be major lifestyle changes occurring within

our home. I look forward to helping my mother with an exercise program. One of

the goals my mother and I want to accomplish is to run a 5K race. I truly

believe we will do this within the next 3 years. I am aslo looking forward to

lighter and healthier meals...I may even learn to cook if it means our mother

will continue to share in our lives.

Thank you for giving our mother the opportunity for a new life! This procedure

has fiven us hope for a more active life with our mother. She is an incredible

woman already; I cannot stress that enough. Soon, her body will not hinder her

spirit!

Sincerely

Wonderful letter. Sounds like serious consideration has been given to the

matter. It must be wonderful to have their support. Have you had the

surgery yet?
