Guest guest
Sara, You don't have to be nervous about talking about anything that bothers you here. I don't like to sound as though we're all knowing, but we have heard just about everything possible that people have experienced and feared, and everyone here is most sympathetic to each other's problems. Don't be afraid to be firm with your regular doc and explain to her that a specialist has confirmed your chronic pancreatitis and that you just don't have IBS. Some doctors like to think they know more than others, and are reluctant to accept another physician's diagnosis. It's important that your medication is kept current and that the instructions for treating your CP are followed. If the regular doctor is treating you, she should honor the instructions recommended by the gastroenterologist. If you try to eat only foods with low fat, you shouldn't have much difficulty. The enzymes are designed to help you with that, and if you don't feel that they are, it may be that you need to be switched to another brand. There are also alternate medications for nausea, so it might be that you aren't on the one that's most effective for you. All of this should be discussed with your doctor. They need to work with you on some of these things until you're seeing more improvement. You might think about reconsidering the doctor's recommendation for antidepressants. Many of us take them each day, and have found that they help tremendously, even with our attitude about eating and the pain that eating sometimes causes. It takes two to three weeks before you would notice any difference, but once the therapy has continued, they truly do help! I wouldn't tell you this unless I'd experienced it myself. I've been taking them for two years now and really notice a great improvement. Please don't be afraid to ask us if you have any questions at all, we truly do want to help you.
