Guest guest
Hello there Sheila, Thank you for your post. I will describe as best I can. Jenna 31/2 has always been pretty regular (once a day) with no dia/cons. Before diet though she would only have a very small poop, once a day. We have been following the GAPS version of the diet so she never did any intro. She basically eats everything (raw/cooked) on legal list, lots of fruit and veges. She takes kirkmans acidopholis/evening primose oil/cod liver oil/sunflower oil. No yoghurt yet but plan to start asap. Since 01/Jan/07 she has been on diet and BM have been once a day, firm texture but lots of individual pieces and there is ALOT! On the bad days she just winges alot and may say " sore tummy " and then passes the oily/smelly stuff and then is as happy as and will start talking more and making lots of progress. This has been going on for six weeks and has probably had the " bad stuff " come out about 4 times. What do you think (sorry to be so detailed-I think I answered all of your questions) > > Hi Venessa, > > << I have been meaning to ask someone for a while about this but > thought > it was a bit yuck. What do you think (sorry to > be so detailed-I think I answered all of your questions)>> It sounds as if she is going through intense die off and then making progress. We see this sometimes; instead of slow steady progress some people will go through " bad spells " and after they are through them they make a leap ahead in progress. I am concerned though about the sore tummy. What raw fruits and veggies is she eating exactly - raisins, grapes etc....? When you start the yogurt start small with 1-4- 1/8 tsp and gradually increase the amount. There are massive amounts of good bacteria in the yogurt and if you start with too much she may have 'massive' die off , which some people have confused with not tolerating the yogurt. On days she has the sore tummy and when you start the yogurt epsom salt baths may help with the die off symtoms and help to lessen her discomfort. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thank you again for your advice. She is eating all raw fruit and veges as she really prefers raw to cooked. It is summer in Australia so she is eating grapes/stone fruit and lots of raw veges like capsicum (I think you call them bell peppers), carrot, celery and so on. She is a great little eater. As I mentioned she has never done the intro diet. Over the last few days that we have been communicating she has picked up a virus from Day care and for two days has only eaten a few green grapes and water. I am thinking this might be a good time to try the intro diet, when she is feeling like eating again. As she is so used to a huge variety of food I thought that I would just give her egg and chicken for two days after and then slowly introduce fruit again. In regards to the " intense die off " , how long can this go on? Poor little thing has had so much yuck come out. I feel so bad for her. This is one girl that had no obvious digestive problems. Amazing! > > Hi Venessa, > > << Thank you for your post. I will describe as best I can. Guest guest
Hi Venessa, << Thank you again for your advice. She is eating all raw fruit and veges as she really prefers raw to cooked. As I mentioned she has never done> the intro diet. >> Some raw fruit and veggies are harder to digest than others. For example the skins of apples and skins of grapes are quite difficult to digest. On days that she is going through a rough period you may want to stick to easier to digest foods. This may help lessen the die off she is experiencing. This chart may help (please read the notes on it) http://www.pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html#beyond << Over the last few days that we have been > communicating she has picked up a virus from Day care and for two > days has only eaten a few green grapes and water. If you start with the intro and then gradually add in more complex foods you should start out the " nasties " quicker. Adding a probiotic and/or yogurt will help speed this up. If you start the yogurt start small (1/8- 1/4 tsp) so you don't overload her body with the toxins of the dying nasties.
