Guest guest
Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is legal. I would look for GSE by Nutribiotic. It's a liquid concentrate. You start with a VERY small dose (can be added to juice) and increase slowly and carefully. Follow the package directions and dosage for children. Oil of Oregano is legal.... you can use any brand that is just the pure oil, nothing added. This is very strong tasting..... one drop is probably all a child could stand to eat, mixed into some sort of food. You would not give it straight into the mouth.... it's too hot and spicy. It would be great if the child could swallow capsules, because you can buy it that way.... then you skip the taste problem. Olive leaf extract (OLE) is legal.... again, any brand name. It comes in liquid tincture or powdered in capsules. A liquid could be in pure grain alcohol or glycerin. If in capsules, you would want a powder that has either nothing at all added.... or ONLY fillers or additives that are listed as legal on www.pecanbread.com in the " Supplements " section.... we have a list there of legal and illegal supplement additives. You can open the capsules and mix it in food, if need be. OLE is sort of bitter tasting, but not as strong as Oil of Oregano. You would want to rotate between these three, I think.... honestly, I am not an expert on using these, I'm just going by what others have posted over the years. I think you should use ONE of these three for a few weeks, then switch to another. The reason behind that is so yeast don't become resistant. Another great anti-fungal remedy is fresh carrot juice and fresh garlic. You'd need your own juicer to do this one.... and if you think your child would not drink carrot juice with garlic in it, it might not be a good choice. But, this is one that one of our veteran SCD moms swears is the best yeast treatment she's ever used. You'd juice enough carrots to give you 4 oz. of juice.... (2 maybe?) and either send a clove of garlic down the juicer chute with the carrots, or press it into the juice with a regular garlic press. The dose is about 4 oz, twice a day for a couple of weeks. You can use this at the same time as the other ones I listed above. Of course, adding garlic to his diet would be a good thing to do overall.... but garlic would be a more advanced food unless you juiced it. After a while, you could introduce garlic in oven-roasted form..... which would be soft and creamy.... easier to digest. Fresh, raw garlic is probably more potent, but not a good choice for beginners to eat it raw. There are a couple of anti-yeast enzymes you can buy that some say have been very helpful. Both Candex and Candidase are SCD legal. I'm not sure of the company names that make them, but if you just Google those two product names, you'll find them. One or the other might be available on the shelf at your natural food store. These are given in between meals, apart from food. Another thing you can add to your child's diet that has antifungal properties is coconut oil. You need to find VIRGIN coconut oil.... one brand that is good is here: www.tropicaltraditions.com . I like one by Nature's Way, called EFA Gold organic extra virgin. Coconut oil is legal.... and wonderful to cook with. It stands up well to heat and can be a great substitute for butter in baked goods. You have to like the taste of coconut, though... because the virgin oil does have that taste and smell. Coconut oil is also anti-viral and anti-bacterial. You can use it along with any of the other anti-fungals I listed... you don't have to rotate it. You need to expect a little bit of a rebound effect if you stop using a prescription anti-fungal. It's common for parents to report that as soon as they stop it, yeast go crazy. That doesn't mean the child " needs " that drug.... just that it's a challenge you'll use some of these other strategies to get control of it. It may flare a bit.... and you *may* want to limit honey and fruit a bit, if you think you need to...... but hopefully you will not eliminate those foods entirely, or for very long. Make sure the child has plenty of carbohydrates going in, of one kind or another. Patti, list moderator Natural Anti Fungals Hello, What type of natural anti fungals should I use and where can I buy them. Are there legal brands and illegal brands? Guest guest
Hi, I have just started the diet with my daughter and I as we were both not thriving after gonig gluten free. Just 1 week later and the results are amazing! I found some " natural remedies " to help with the die off and candida overgrowth. It works really well and makes me feel so much better: This is suppose to be done when you first get up in the morning until symptoms ease- garlic is not recocmmended for long term use as it can affect the cognitive if used over long term. Here goes: 1 liter water w/1 tsp salt taken with an enteric coated (legal) garlic capsule followed 1 hour later by probiotic. The first day was amazing the difference. That being said I do not think my child would ever drink saltwater, however, juice diluted with club soda seems to work as well! It is the sodium that is suppose to help cleanse the intestinal track. The garlic anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, then replace at appropriate time with probiotics. You will probably see the results in bowel movements within the hour. It is a natural colon cleanse that really works! Good Luck, P.S. We also take enteric coated peppermint oil, oil of oregano, tumeric when needed for inflammation (equivalent to a steroid, but natural)and ginger as needed for extra of the above.
