Guest guest
Well, do not panic! There are people who score high who do not have cf, and nearly a third of the cf patients at s Hopkins have no dna identifica tion--and there is one mutation that seldom produces much salt or much pancreatic problem: R117H; I was misdiagnosed with that one and thought it odd as am salty and we will not even discuss my pancreas; also R117H cf persons tend to live longer. The oldest officially identified cf patient in the united states is 79 (I think) and was not diagnosed, despite fairly severe illness even in childhood, until 52, had two children, and although not doing well now, is hanging in there; she was first diagnosed with the sweat test! I hope this helps; there really IS life after cf--for many, sadly, not for all! Love to you, n Rojas, wcf, 66, mom of 2 adult carriers and one adult wcf--all still kicking! Re: Our sweat test is next week Thanks for the kind reply and information. I really appreciate it. I called this morning and scheduled her sweat test for Wednesday at 10 A.M. I guess all we can do now is wait. Thanks, again! ------------------------------------------- The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO WAY be construed as medical advice.
