Guest guest
Oh, that's funny. I did that today, too. I was supposed to put it in the frig at 7PM last night, and realized this morning that I'd forgotten. You can still use it, but it will have no benefitial probiotic effect. Meleah yogurt on for 35 hrs can we still use our scd yogurt. we forgot to turn it off so it fermented for 35 hrs. how many hours can it be cooking? Guest guest
30 hrs is about the max.... then the probiotics begin to die. It's still legal to use, as Meleah said. Guest guest
If I remember correctly, Krivel informed us that over incubated yogurt could start to breed bad bugs so you wouldn't want to use it straight out of the fridge. It certainly won't have the probiotic qualities you are looking for but you could bake and cook with it as you will kill all the bugs that way. Guest guest
I thought that in BTVC Elaine said that if we forgot that it would be ok and that it was beneficial to let it go longer because then it fermented even more. It is best between 24 and 29 hours and can go up to 32 but I would not take it beyond it loses its effectiveness. I do mine 29 hours as a rule. Carol F. Guest guest
Maybe I made this up but I thought that I read in BtheVC something that said " at least 24 hours and if you do it more, don't worry about it, longer is better " I will have to find where I read that. I had been intentionally leaving mine on longer because of this.
