Hi Laurie!

I'm answering this VERY late so I'll just promise to tell all in

time! Mind you. The things you ask about are complicated!!

BTW, the fact that Cherie Blair happened to go to our school is

simply the result of the fact that she lived near it when she was

young. It was a girls' convent school (not fee-paying...you got in

by passing an exam at the age of 11, a system which has virtually

disappeared to-day). I went to a similar school in Manchester. Then,

between twenty and thirty years ago, most secondary schools (11 -

18) became " comprehensive " , ie. all abilities went to the school, no

exam at 11 to select the more able pupils. Most also became co-ed

instead of single-sex. Our school also became comprehensive and co-

ed in the late 70's. So did my school in Manchester.

Of course the great " public schools " are, in fact, not public at

all....they are private, ie. you have to pay to attend!! Beat that

for nonsensical language! The schools like Eton, Harrow and Rugby

cost huge sums. There are lots of less expensive private schools, of

course but they tend to be called " private " or " independent " rather

than " public " !!!! In other words, the less accessible to the

general public a school is, the more likely it is to be called

a " public " school!!! As you Americans say... " Go figure!! "

Anyway, all fee-paying schools belong to the " independent sector "

and they charge fees which vary widely according to the reputation

and facilities of the school. Most people send their children to

schools in the " maintained sector " , ie, schools which are free to

users.

End of lesson one!

I'll update on Jim after Tuesday. Thank you for the good wishes, on

his behalf as well as mine.

Warmly,

Fliss (UK)

Maybe speak to your doc about switching nausea meds. I've had probs

with nausea meds not working in the past and my doc prescribed me

Kytril (given to chemo patients) and that's been the only thing that

I have really found to work for me. It's VERY expensive unless you

have a script plan.

Hope that helps!! :0)--Kim S.
