Guest guest
My son was in 2 DOC Bands, starting at 5 1/2 months. Just graduated from band #2 at 11 1/2 months. He had right-side plagio (17mm cranial vault asymmetry, 10mm mid-face asymmetry and 8mm skull base asymmetry/ear misalignment). He had torticollis - so along with the bands, we did physical therapy and LOTS of at-home stretching between PT appointments. He graduated from his second DOC Band with 5mm CVA, 0mm mid-face asymmetry and 0mm skull base asymmetry. I'm not sure what would have happened had we just done one or the other (band alone or PT alone ) but I can't imagine that his ears would have re-aligned with PT alone. That said, with the band only and no PT to resolve the tort, I don't think we would have seen the improvement we saw. Seems like the physical therapy - when tort is a factor - is a crucial element to getting maximum results from the band. Don't know if that helps answer your question. But I guess the important thing is end results and with the band and the PT to resolve the tort, we experienced head re-shaping and total resolution of facial asymmetry and ear misalignment.
