Hi,

My daughter and I have had a little trouble off and on with the cheese. I

don't think the brand matters as much as sometimes our system just can't handle

it. We started the diet on the 19th and my daughter can't eat it still but I am

fine with it. Maybe take it out of the diet and reintoroduce a small piece in a

couple of days to see if it makes a difference.

As I understand it Sweet-n-low is okay. My daughter does not like honey

either but is very happy with sweet-n-low.

Good Luck,

Can cheese be the problem?

Hello

My doughter woke up the other night screaming and crying as if she had seen

something terrible. She was like that for about 15 minutes and my question is if

that could be related to the cheese that she ate that day. I have always feel

not very comfortable about that cheese but she loves it. It's Kraft mild cheddar

cheese and it's supose to be legal . Could some body give some information about

this?

Also, I'm not giving her any honey because she doesn't like the taste. I would

like to try the saccharin. Any brands or places where I can find it?

Thank you for your help

Actually, I think the Sweet-n-Low in the packets, or the powder, has illegals in

it. If you can find the liquid Sweet-n-Low, I've heard that is legal..... but

I've never been able to find it.

Hi Patti,

I got my information from Elaines website- Is it incorrect?

The SCDT Knowledge Base

Saccharine

Deborah writes: Sweet N Low is legal, in spite of the tiny quantities of

dextrose and cream of tartar, because it's the most easily found form of

saccharine. But if you can find Necta Sweet or liquid Sweet N Low, you'll avoid

those substances. CVS has always carried Necta Sweet. I'm sure they can order it

for you. Liquid Sweet N Low is not ideal, as it's preserved with methyl paraben.

We are all exposed to so many chemicals (pesticides, some plastics and more)

that are estrogenic in their effect - it's not a good idea to voluntarily

consume more.

Necta Sweet is really the best form of saccharine available in the States, but

it's hard to find and slightly less convenient than Sweet N Low. I believe

there's also a brand of saccharine in Canada that doesn't have the illegals (ed.

Hermesetas). But if you can't find Necta Sweet, I wouldn't worry too much about

using Sweet N Low..... For those of us who can't tolerate honey, Sweet N Low has

been very helpful

Thanks,

Hmmm.... okay. I was just going by past discussion that I remembered from years

ago here on the list. That was at a time when Elaine was participating, but I

honestly don't remember if it was her reply or someone else's that I filed away

in my brain for future reference.

So all this time, I thought it had illegals in it. Well, it technically *does*

have illegals.... but apparently if she posted Deborah's comment to her site as

the definitive statement on Sweet 'n Low, I stand corrected. My apologies.

For those who do want to avoid that bit of illegal, the Hermesetas tabs are

available at the link I posted previously.

Thanks for pointing that out, .

I react to the tiny bit of dextrose in Sweet and Low if I use it more than once

in a long

time. The Hermasetas tabs are great. I even dissolve two in diluted wine and

find it more

pleasant than when completely " dry. "

I just looked at the ingredients of Kraft cheese and there is some mold

inhibitor they put in there that is not in other cheeses. Could this be

something bad for the gut? I don't buy that brand just because I don't know

what it is (and don't remember how to spell it or I would put it here) but

figure it is not good.
