I have Aetna US Healthcare and I was approved (100%). There are a lot of

people on this list who have Aetna and have been approved.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the feed-back. I've just got this doubt that the HMO section of

Aetna is going to give me a hard time. I'm really excited to move forward

with this surgery. I have several close friends that have had the

procedure. They look and feel wonderful. Thanks again for the info.

Did most of you send a personal letter to your insurance company along with

Dr.R's letter?

I spoke to my insurance (United Healthcare) today and they said they

" require " a phone call from the surgeon's office to set up the file and

assign it to a specific nurse. After that they will accept a letter (fax)

from the doctor. Has anyone else had to deal with this? I thought

Dr.Rutledge's office sends us the letter and then we have to deal with the

insurance co. ourselves. This could be a glitch for me if they won't call

first with the referral.

Any thoughts or experience from anyone?

Hi ,

Many of us have Aetna..

Also, go to Aetna.com

you will find under the search ---(weight loss surgery) that they do

infact pay for it and list what they will not pay for...

I made a copy and sent it in my packet to them.. but you will have no

problems unless it is an exclusion through your employer..

Good luck,

in GA

I have Aetna US Healthcare and I called and gave all of the info to the

pre-cert department right before I sent them the letter. They took all of

the information, codes, etc. from me. You can always call and say you are

from Dr. R's office......he does give us permission to do that.

Thanks for the info...so far you are the only response I have had. You are

sure that they don't know that you are not calling from the doctors office?

That would make me a little nervous that they would find out then deny me. I

am willing to try though.

Sounds like you are on your way to N.C. I will be anxious to hear. Do you

have a lap top. No one answered me on that question. Alot of post ops seem to

be able to post. Just wondering. I will be thinking of you on Wednesday.

Yes, I have. Just recently I was approved for the surgery under my POS.

The HMO would only approve surgries in town. Out of town I had to change to

POS. I did so just to have this surgery done.

Let me know if this helped.

I have United Healthcare Select Plus POS, and they paid 100%. Just a hint -

they don't know who works in Dr. R's office, or what they sound like. You

didn't hear that from me! ;-)

Amy.

Hello Amy,

I have just sent my application to Dr. R.. I have United Healtcare POS also,

What questions did they ask when you called them? Do you have any helpful

hints ? It sure gives me some hope to know that they covered you 100%.

I'll assume you're asking me, but there are other Amy's on the list, so

please forgive me if I'm presuming too much!

I don't remember what they asked, it was 8 months ago. It was fine, I knew

what they wanted to know. I think you will need the procedure codes

(available at www.clos.net) and your personal stuff (name, SSN, etc).

Good luck Angel! We're all pulling for you!

Amy.
