Guest guest
Hello all.. Just wanted to let you know that I've been a bad girl!!! First off let me say to all the new post ops and the pre ops, drink JUICE and GATORADE after surgery and VERY little water... I have been drinking water almost all the time because it's the only thing i crave to drink but I realized yesterday after not peeing for 12 hours that i was dehydrating myself!! It's not that bad and if it persists tomorrow i will call my PCP and see what she suggests.. I know water is realyl good for you and it cleans you out and it helps with weight loss etc, etc, etc... But it does not have the good stuff like sodium and potassium that our bodies need since we aren't getting very much from food... Granted this isn't a HUGE problem but it could land me in the hospital if I am not careful! Don't want/need that! Second, the other reason I have been bad is because I tried to put my fingers arouns my wrist once again this morning and COULDN'T!! I thought maybe there was some way I could be GAINING weight.. Well, I am happy to say that I broke down and used my PCP's scale today and am down to 290! That's a total of 18 lbs gone in less than 2 weeks!!! So, now that my fear of not losing weight is over, I will try to wait until my next appt on Dec 1 to weight again! At once point I was really jealous of since she lost 20 lbs in 1 week but you know what? She started out almost 60 lbs heavier than I did and she deserves it! Who knows.. maybe she will pass me up one day and i will weigh more than her.. hehehe... Who knows.. but, we WILL lose! I'm not afraid of that anymore.. Third. I wanted to give y'all a tip and a recipe... The tip is, for those of you who like the taste of butter or margarine in everything like I do, instead of using it in mashed potatoes, sauces, soups, gravies, etc., use DILLWEED! It has a great buttery flavor with no calories or fat! Granted, your eggs might look funny with little green spots on them but it's so good! Try it! And last but not least, the recipe... Last night I made me some potato soup that was just wonderful! 4 potatoes, 1/4 onion chopped into small pieces, milk and water <I used 1/2 of each and made enough to cover the potatoes completely.. You can always add more if need be> 3 chicken bullion cubes <can use chicken stock in place of bullion and water> dillweed and pepper to taste... Of course, add everything so that you will like it.. Experiment a little bit.. What I did when it was cooked was took my hand blender and pureed it.. It was filling and I felt like I was actually eating something.. You can also use this in place of gravy, just don't use so much onion <unless you like it like that>.. Ok.. that's enough from me.. Sorry this was so long but i thought everyone could benefit from this info in some way shape or form... In my thoughts and prayers, Terri POST-OP!! 10/25/00 BMI 55 308 1 week before surgery at PCP office 302 the morning of surgery at hospital 290 11 days after surgery!! 18 lbs gone FOREVER!!!! 200 First goal!
