Guest guest
First off, I apologize for corresponding at length with myself. I'm on a tear... you know how it is. ) > http://prayersforlandon.blogspot.com/2010/06/before.html > Landon's blog pictures lead me to conclude that the main problem with recognizing unilateral lambdoid synostoses as distinct from deformational plagio is the subtlety of the posterior displacement of the ipsilateral ear. Unless the primary care physician has noticed the relatively dramatic *anterior* displacement that would be associated with the same degree of flatness in deformational plagio (compare Clara's pictures in the Photos section), it doesn't exactly jump out at you. And the contralateral frontal bossing can be absent in cranio as well. *sigh* But, since deformational plagio can theoretically cause lambdoid synostosis (going back to the first article), it's still worth looking out for in unresolved cases like Clara's, I think.
