Guest guest
Three months really isn't a long time, especially for someone so young. A great place to go for encouragement is to watch the DAN! Conference video from Judy Gorman called, " Diets are Non-negotiable! " You can find this video by going here: http://www.danwebcast.com/ You have to register and they will send you an alphanumeric code. It's free, and they don't send you any spam. Watch that video and you will feel a lot better about what you are doing for your Sweetie. -- In pecanbread , Silvia Payne wrote: > > my 2 year old and i have been doing SCD for nearly 3 months with > visible progress but lately i feel like SCD may not be the complete > answer. i believe our main culprit is yeast. we are eating stage 1 & > 2 foods, meaning all peeled deseeded cooked fruits & veggies, nut > butter, meat, and lots of eggs. we still cannot tolerate honey or any > dish that is not totally basic. for example, we tried spaghetti sauce > over spaghetti squash and we both reacted. all that was in it was > tomato juice, meat, onions, garlic, (onions and garlic individually > seem to be fine) oregano. it seems basic to me and i really thought > we would do fine with it. i am having a hard time finding anything > that we can tolerate that resembles a real meal, instead of little > individual components. > > in the past couple of weeks i have cut back even more on the amount > of applesauce or pearsauce or bananas. we now eat about 1/4 C each a > day. that is our only sweet thing in our diet. that still has not > seemed to make enough difference to completely clear her eczema and > stop the reactivity. also cut out all dairy: butter, cheese, except > for goat yogurt. she is not ready for nut flour. > > please somebody tell me that someday soon we will be off of this very > restricted way of eating. we are eating the same things...i probably > have 2-3 days worth of different foods and then we start over again > with the same foods. > > do i just need to wait longer or is SCD not the right diet if yeast > is your main problem? >
Guest guest
Sylvia, I understand your frustration. I hope my recent discovery helps you! I found that we react to foods high inpotassium and it sets off our yeast almost instantly! They think we have a genetic endocrine disorder but we are not sure yet. It has caused many gastrointestinal and food sensitivities for us. But we are recovering so much better and the yeast went away very quickly when we got the electrolytes back in balance. Eating lower potassium foods and increasing our salt has helped a lot! We have known the salt connection for months but did not understand why until now. If you notice this helps you may want to go to an endocrinologist! I know tomatoes are very high in potassium we have to limit to about 1 T. a day to maintain our balance. There is a sight at the Mayo clinic that lists an example of a low potassium diet. After looking at the high potassium foods, they all set off reactions in us! You can also google low potassium food lists for help. This has helped us tremendously!
