Oh man Robin I am sooo sorry to hear that your letter got rejected!! OUCH!!

I am scared that will happen to me as well. I went back after we talked last

Saturday and added some MORE to my pt letter. It is now 10 pages.. BUT the

font size is 14 and the margins are alittle bigger.... and now I read an

email from him that we can't do that!! I have no idea what to add to this

stupid letter.. i am all out of ideas!!! Did anyone ever send you a copy of

one that was approved to look at?? If so I would love to take a look at it

and see what I am missing here.

What was wrong with you history and Physical info.. if I may ask?? I mean

doctors pretty much know how to do those and I don't see why it would be a

big problem!

did you see the deal with needing a Psy evaluation for those packets sent in

after Nov???!!!!

Will this rollercoaster ride ever end!!

Here is an exact quote of what was on my e-mail:

" Hi,

We have been trying to call you for several days.

I rejected your application because your form says

that you have Polycystic ovary disease, arthritis

edema and 4 surgeries and your history and physical

exam lists none of these that I can see.

Sorry

RR "

I wish you could see my packet, I really spent a lot

of time getting it ready. I felt like I went above and

beyond what was requested at times. Maybe everyone

else does too. I don't know. All I know is I listed 3

surgeries - laproscopic for endometriosis in 97,

Laproscopic to check for kidney stones in 94, and

Hysterectomy for polycystic ovary disease. I also

stated that I have had problems with joint and back

pain. All of these surgeries were preformed by

previous specialist. When my doctor prepared my

history she did not list these. That's all I can

tell...

Now, what am I doing about it? I e-mailed Dr. R. and

made positively for sure that he has my work number

that has voice mail so I won't miss a telephone call.

I gave him my home number as well. I called my primary

doctor and sent her a copy of the e-mail from Dr. R.

She is going to verify my surgeries and put something

in writing. That's all I know to do. When I get that

I will fax it, mail it and then wait some more. If

anyone has input I welcome it.

Dear Dr. R.,

You haven't " met " me yet but I am preparing a package and working on

insurance approval at this time. My name is Michele. I'm from Akron, OH and

heard about you through a post op here in town. I doubt I will get my

package in by Dec 1 and have a question about the psych evaluation. Before

giving me a referrral for my insurance company, my PCP required 3 sessions

with a psychiatrist to find out " why i ate too much " . My psychiatrist

explained to him that obesity is not a mental illness and that I was fully

cognizant of the surgery I was requesting and recommended that as a medical

doctor he write a referral for it. Will this constitute a " psych eval " or

will I need to do more? Thank you in advance for your input.

Michele

We are back to needing a psych eval NOW??? Well thats just really great.

I tell you Im really getting pretty sick of all of this. When he called me

on the phone he said the margins were to big and my fonts was to large

therefore I really didnt have the 10 pages....I really think he is being

petty and an asshole....excuse my language. As far as the PCP goes....he

wants the dr to follow the exact sample he has on his website I guess

because he said my PCP didnt write enough. Well I dont have any health

problems at the moment but HTN and joint problems so how much could he

write??

This is all really beginning to get pretty ridiculous if you ask me. A

woman wrote me who has a date with Dr R and said that a friend of hers went

to another dr in durham and had the MGB. This Dr studied under Dr. R and

the only thing he requires is a consult with him. THe only thing is, he

hasnt done that many surgies yet but she is supposed to be getting me her

friends name and email address. I really want this surgery but Im getting

very sick of all the rule changeing. Everytime you turn around something

has changed before you can even get your packet in. I guess you can tell

Im a little pissed huh???

I do have one letter that I will forward you. Take care and keep in touch.

Trudy,

So glad to see you back posting-it was quiet and lonely without you. I

followed your progress every day, waited with you and Jude for your

surgeries, and prayed for your safe recovery. You have a delightful sense of

humor, and seem so warm and kind. Now I'm anxious to hear how you're

doing--how do you feel physically and mentally? Any regrets? I can't

imagine life as a post-op. My best to you. Tennessee Sharon

Is this something new as well??

I didn't have that listed in my manual. I have covered that topic under

" Risk for surgery " already.... guess I will have to redo my letter...

AGAIN.

Hey,

You're doing the correct thing.. just keep doing it. Dr. Rutledge is nothing if

he is not thorough... Honey, he is the best. A little short on words sometimes,

but he means well.

He won't do anything that might put your health in anymore risk than it has to

be with the MGB, and if he says he needs something, give it to him.

Robin,

You're right about one thing... you're pissed right now.

That would be the only thing I see that you have said in your post that is

correct.

I'm sure if you feel it is too much trouble to do the things expected of you

from Dr. Rutledge to be accepted for surgery, you can always find some other

surgeon to take your money and give you their version of what Dr. Rutlege does

so expertly.

In my opinion you're not ready for weight loss surgery. I've just had it (one

week today), and I know for a fact it takes alot of patience and effort to

adjust to the new life style. You seem to be lacking both.

Like I said this is only my opinion, take it as just that.

Can't thank Dr. R enough, and I should say first, because I haven't forgotten,

can't

thand " God " enough, for leading me to Dr. R., for creating him, and then giving

him the knowledge to come up with the MGB..and to save all our fat little selfs

from a very unhappy life.

I know He must have some great work for me, to keep me around so long.. hahaha
