What paint did you use and are you able to repaint? The helmet surface is very

slick so I don't know what paint to use and have it stick. I would like to do a

painted background with stickers over it. Can I repaint by either painting over

the old design or by removing the first paint layer and starting over? Which

would be better? Painting layers seems like bad idea because the paint adds

small amounts of weight and I know the bands were crafted to be under a certain

weight...

water based acrylics are safest, i used other brands until a lady at the store recommended creamcoat which did work better you still dont get a perfectly smooth look though but it does peel right off when ready to redo

Krylon for Plastic Spray paint. Mod Podge Matte over it will remove the odors.

I hear you can remove easily with Nail Polish remover.

I tried Rust-Oleum's Spray Paint for Plastic. It lasted over a month with just a

couple touch-ups around the edges, but I did not find that it came off easily

with nail polish remover. In fact, I did a tiny spot to test it, and the nail

polish remover caused the paint to permanently stain the helmet. The rest I

chipped off with a straight razor, and it took 5 hours. Then, I scrubbed it with

alcohol. So, it does stick really well, but I'd only recommend it if you are not

planning on removing the paint later. HTH
