Guest guest
Hello all, this is my 1st entry. My 9 year old daughter, a, has been diagnosed with small-bowel bacterial overgrowth. Endoscopy and colonoscopy have shown that she does not have ulcerative colitis, crohns, or celiac disease. She also does not have autism. However, she has been suffering from extreme bloating/gas/soft stools/diarrhea/weight loss for the past 6 months. 4 rounds of antibiotics have had no effect. Her doctors do not think her diet has anything to do with it. I disagree. Desperately searching the internet this weekend I came across the SCD diet. We started her on the intro diet yesterday. She is having a severe reaction - lots of cramping and a return of her diarrhea (before this she only had cramping sporadically, but now it's been almost continuous since she started the diet). Can anyone tell me how long this discomfort usually lasts? Also, I'm confused about when to start the homemade yogurt. Any suggestions? I want to stick with the diet because my gut tells me it will help, but it's hard when she looks so miserable... Thank you. GG
