Guest guest
This is soooooooooo wonderful!! love & hugs, grdmBEV Shana Monday Update Dear friends and family, Shana is doing great. No fevers, no kidney problems, and no respirator. At periods throughout the day she was awake enough to understand verbal commands and can communicate by nodding her head (she is still too tired to open her eyes more than a slit). Later this evening she was trying to speak but no sounds come out since she has a tube in her throat. I tried reading her lips and I think she said that she wanted to go fishing in Antarctica. However, she seemed frustrated with my interpretations so it is possible that I misunderstood her. The doctors were able to totally disconnect her from the respirator and she was breathing on her own, aided only by oxygen. The plan is to put her back on the respirator for a few hours so that her lungs can rest, and then she will be removed again for a longer period of time. This process will be repeated until she can breathe on her own for 24 hours and then she will be removed from the surgical ICU room that has been her home since the operation. As you can tell from this letter I am very excited to see this progress and really believe that God has answered all of our prayers. Today I am reminded of Jesus’ words in 16:24, when he told His followers: “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete” (NIV). Today my joy is complete because many of us have asked and Shana has received. Thanks and please continue to pray. Love, Kurt " Because of His great Love I am not consumed...
