Guest guest
My daughter (NT but with some ADD) has cold sores regularly. IF she takes her vitamins and extra vitamin A, she does fine. As Dr. Sidney Baker says in his DAN! book--- whatever...is a sign of an " unmet need " for whatever.... Cold sores are virus (herpes simplex, I believe) and vitamin A is important for the immune system to deal with viruses. We use 10,000 U a day. In Dr. Baker's book, he says 10,000 U is a very safe dose. You would have to take a lot more than that for a long time to overdose. On the other hand, if 10,000 U meets the " unmet need " for vitamin A, it is hard to believe that you could overdose on it. BTW, Drs. Baker and Pangborn's book is excellent. It helps ordinary people (and even drs.) to know how to think about interventions---what ones to try, how to evaluate response, when to move on and even what tests may be useful and why or why not--frankly I think, even for someone who is chronically ill with something besides autism. It was Dr. Baker's book that spurred me on to try SCD again last fall. He writes that SCD has been one of the single most effective interventions he has seen. Autism Research Institute in their current newsletter recommends SCD as well. , mom to , 18 yo and SCD 9/06 Cold sores Posted by: " woggamamma " christabellamondo@... woggamamma Date: Tue Apr 10, 2007 5:06 pm ((PDT)) Hi all, long time ago I was a regular here for my son Hudson who has cerebral pasly and had a gastric problem, epilepsy and autistic behaviours. SCD was alife changer for him, no more seizures or meds, no more autistic behaviour and his gut is much better. We still stick mainly to SCD but have come such a long way he can tolerate some non SCD food. I remember years ago someone posting about cold sores, the root cause and something that helped or cured them. Hudson is plagued by them for the last year, he has them more often than not. Any ideas? Because he's non verbal he can't tell me when one is coming so too late to apply the commercial creams and they don't seem to bother him too much so I tend not to apply anything. Any help appreciated. Chris. --------------------------------- Bored stiff? Loosen up... Download and play hundreds of games for free on Yahoo! Games.
