Guest guest
" flora bears " maybe? mom of 5 with CF and one on the way Diet Hello everyone My name is Kerry. I am the mother of a 7 month old baby girl called who was diagnosed with CF at birth. She needed bowel surgery. She is doing really well and like all mothers I'm now in the throws of weaning!! I've a question to ask. must have a lactose and glutin free diet. She is also on flucloxacilin which I know kills all the good bugs in her intestine as well as the nasty ones. Does anyone know of a lactose free product (something like Yakult) that will put the good bugs back into her tummy? From reading all your messages its clear that I've so much to learn. Guest guest
Kerry, WELCOME to the group. I am sorry that your baby has CF but it is good to get the diagnosis early. My daughter was 9 months when diagnosed and she had a lot of lung damage then because she had been quite ill. Everyone here is great and will do all they can to answer your questions. mom of 5 with CF and one on the way Diet Hello everyone My name is Kerry. Guest guest
You have to look for " active cultures " for the yogurt to work as a probiotic. Guest guest
I buy an organic one with six active cultures in it--addicted, for sure! Good Luck, n Rojas, who definitely agrees with ! Guest guest
How long does my son have to be on this diet? If he responds well and it heals his gut...when do we start feeding them all foods again. If we can't, what is the purpose?
Guest guest
When Dr Haas wrote the book about SCD, he found out that most kids were able to eat an ordinary diet after 2 years. However, the book was written over 50 years ago. Foods were different then. They had less pesticides, additives, and toxins. We are very sorry but we have not moniterd nor made a survey to find out if children are able to transition from SCD. We would love to get feedback from all of you after several years. Any volunteers to make a survey? Many peole are unwilling to leave SCD because they feel so great on this diet. They get used to the foods and start to love them. The foods on SCD are very similar to those of primitive people. Primitive people rarely get any chronic illness. We are in the middle of an epidemic of diabetes, obesity and other major health. problems. All the experts agree that PREVENTION is the key. SCD is one option for preventing major illness..
