Guest guest
Toni, I think that cellulose should only be used in small quantities in pills and not used as food. I might have misunderstood you but just wanted to clarify this. Mimi > Hi All, > May I ask ? Guest guest
Is there a link or info. somewhere that I can send a friend the starter for the yogurt that doesn't have the cellulose in it? Thanks, Jenn & K I could never use any of the commercial starters and use fresh Astro natural Balkan Style Yogurt. I've done that for seven years. Of course it is a " cow " yogurt. Carol F. Guest guest
I just found a new fresh, organic, whole goat's milk at our local HFS. It works great for thick goat yogurt & K can even tolerate a few oz. of the milk now too. I wouldn't want to trust cow right now. She is probably having some inflammation due to dumping high oxalates right now & we've always seen inflammation, sinus infx. with cow milk/yogurt. Wouldn't want to push it. Thanks though, Jenn & K Re: OT - Canadians I am looking for....... > > Is there a link or info. somewhere that I can send a friend the starter for the yogurt that doesn't have the cellulose in it? Guest guest
Hi Jenn, Just an FYI for you and any newbies reading your post. Liquid Goat milk is not SCD legal. All dairy milk and cream needs to be made into 24 SCD yogurt or legal cheeses. Liquid dairy milk contains too much lactose for SCDers. She was describing goat's MILK. I sort of blinked when she said she was feeding liquid milk. Has K been symptom free for at least a year? I didn't think so. So just to summarize: Liquid goat's milk, organic or conventional - Legal for making yogurt, not to be fed otherwise Goat yogurt- OK as a " starter " for homemade yogurt if cultures in it are legal Not OK to drink as is b/c as Sheila pointed out, it contains lactose Carol F. Guest guest
Can you tell me why? Is it the casein, is gliadin in the goat's milk too? How about human milk? Casein, gliadin? Guest guest
Even given with enzymes 2 yrs. after starting SCD? Guest guest
>The reason why liquid goats milk is illegal is that in that form it is a disaccharide and therefore illegal. When it is used for 24 hour SCD yoghurt, the lactose is converted into galactose, a single sugar and therefore legal on SCD. Guest guest
Jenn, It is the lactose that is indigestable. The milk must be cultured by beneficial bacteria so that all the lactose has been converted into glucose and galactose; single molculed sugars that are digestable. Guest guest
Thanks. I really thought it to be a good thing though that she could actually tolerate a little now & then. I didn't realize I was stepping out of bounds doing that. Jenn & K Re: OT - Canadians I am looking for....... Hi Jenn, Just an FYI for you and any newbies reading your post. She is allergic to almost all of them & some med. oxalates as well. She has been having acid pee problems.
