Guest guest
Good afternoon to all, hope everyone is feeling well, if not I hope you get to doing so very quickly. Shana and Kurt you guys hang in there and keep us up to date with how Miss Shana is doing. We will continue to keep you in our prayers. I have asked before about your children with cf having difficult times at school; we have been fighting with the public school system here since Christian was diagnosed. Seems the school is trying to say that he has learning disabilities and needs to be tested ... no it couldn't possibly be the teachers. I just got off the phone with the lady that schedules these test; if we go through the school system we pay $1200.00 if we use our insurance we pay $575.00. These people have been dragging their feet since the beginning of the school year; they don't even have his 504 plan in place yet and I am up at the school almost every week. I am just going nuts; Christian was diagnosed in October with ADHD and put on medicine ... I don't see a difference. Now we have already started the last 9 week period and he is failing. We have gotten him tutoring and special help and it doesn't seem to help. I feel that he sees what buttons to push and that's what he does ... the teachers act afraid of him so whenever he farts they call me to come get him; and he knows it. Now his pulmonoligist suggested getting him counseling because of his late diagnoses. I know that he could be doing this all because he has told me that there isn't any reason for him to continue in school; he just isn't interested. We have taken away all his video games and limited his activities; he does the work but never turns it in. I'm sorry I don't mean to ramble I just am at a loss for what to do. The mother part of me doesn't want him having to repeat the 6th grade but if he isn't willing to turn in his work what else can they do? Has anyone had their child tested for learning disabilities and if so what was the out come. My husband says we should just wait until school is out to have him tested since he will most likely fail this year. On a good note we had another checkup today; still 90 pound but now he is 60 " two more inches and he will be as tall as I am ... good thing that Dad is 6' 3 " ! He also had blood drawn for his mutations; don't know what they will show but I do feel that the more people tested the better. Thank you for listening to my ramblings any and all suggestions are truly welcome. Tina Mom to Christian 12 yowcf
