Guest guest
Hi Elaine, Lucy here, I have Osteoarthritis along with Fibromyalgia, in addition to others and RP. I go to see a Dr. just for pain management. He started me off on Methadone which was entirely too strong for me. I felt like I was in a different world. He changed me to Darvocet. I take up to 3 (100MG) tablets a day. This works for me. Hope this helps some, you might mention it to your Dr. Love and Prayers, Lucy
Guest guest
Elaine, don't you be sorry about ranting. You KNOW that is why we are here. AND you are right..... It is NOT right to be in so much pain. They just have to find something for you. Please let us know what you find out. Know I'm thinking of you and you are in my thoughts and prayers hugs I'm going to ask him if he thinks that it's right for me to lie in bed and cry because the pain is so bad. It's not like that all the time but about 3 or 4 days a week and I think that's too much. Sorry about ranting, pain makes me a little grouchy. Take care and thanks again,
Guest guest
Hi Elaine, "Ditto" on what said about not feeling bad about ranting. That is what the rest of us are here for, to hear the ranting and to try to help with what is causing it. Love and Prayers, Lucy
Guest guest
Thanks Lucy, I was reading something on Darvocet last night. It's like the Empracet I was taking but stronger. My doc has been reluctant to give me anything stronger. Maybe this time he will because I'm going to ask him if he thinks that it's right for me to lie in bed and cry because the pain is so bad. It's not like that all the time but about 3 or 4 days a week and I think that's too much. Sorry about ranting, pain makes me a little grouchy. Take care and thanks again, Elaine
Guest guest
Elaine: Cath here. Have RP, Myasthenia Gravis, arthritis, Pseudotumor, herniated discs, Fibromyalgia, mixed connective tissue disease, let's see what else I forgot. You know the ordinary for us regular ole RP'ers. I do have strong pain med that has saved my life and kept me functioning. I have to be followed by pain management specialist for it though. It's gotten bad press lately but if you research, it is a very safe drug that has been used for years with cancer patients. It is definately an option if you are unable to find relief if you feel comfortable taking it and your doctor agrees. Oxycotin is made for long term pain management and is wonderful. It doesn't make you dopey or sleepy like other narcotics I have. Is actually safer for kidney and liver than Ibu or tylenol. This is a personal decision whether you wish to seek this out. Most primary docs won't Rx because of liability and defer to pain management, but I can tell you I would have lost everything including my sanity if I didn't have it as backup. My mom threw out her back and was in great pain. They gave her Vicodin and didn't help alot. She does not take meds but was in such pain I told her she could try one of my oxycotin (not recommending anyone do this) and my mom was amazed. She could walk within an hour and commented on why kids would abuse it since you don't feel high. Guess they chew them and these are 12 hour dosage pills, when chewed you get a real rush I guess. I don't have the guts to chew them so don't figure it will be a problem for me. Oxycotin was a wonderful option for me and docs say with all I have I'm hooked on pred, Ibu, etc so pain meds are just a fact of life I have to accept. Thank goodness I found this though or I wouldn't be able to raise my daughter. Just my personal opinion and wanted to let others know this med is out there. Please discuss with your own doctors if interested. The pain can get so bad I just didn't want to let this med go without mentioning it may be an option for some. Have a good week everyone! Love ya, Cath Re: Pain Killers (Elaine in Pain) Elaine, don't you be sorry about ranting. You KNOW that is why we are here. AND you are right..... It is NOT right to be in so much pain.
