Hi Marcia,

I would go in with info that I will gladly send you from leading doctors in the field of RP and show them to him and ask him if he thinks this is what you might have. Make sure though that you go in there confident and not act like you are a scared rabbit and he is god almighty. Go in informed and TELL him/her you have these symptoms and that you want his opinion on this. I will send you info asap.

The main thing I have found in dealing with doctor's and god knows we can all relate to the many many many doctors we have seen, is to be informed and confident even when you feel far from being so. Make sure they understand that you demand respect from them and you are not some twit who has imaginary symptoms. Geez..........I'm starting to get mad just thinking about all I've read from this group about doctors. LOLOL

Sorry Marcia, the main thing is to be informed and to demand their respect. You are hiring them and paying THEM so you deserve respect.

I was very lucky in that my primary doctor had seen a very bad case of Polychondritis when she was an intern and she never forgot that case. She immediately diagnosed me JUST from the looks of my ear. I pray your doctor will be just as great in being able to diagnose whatever it is you have, be it Polychondritis or something else. I will also pray it is not RP, but it does sound like it very well could be.

Good luck and keep us updated please.

We all learn from each other here.

I have a new doc to visit in February but don't know if I should suggest looking into this possibility or whether that would just turn him off to my situation.

Dear ,

Your kindness struck me so very much today. It has been very frustrating being passed off so easily. You see, I have a very strong will and lead a very active life but with much pain and exhaustion. I do not look sick or at least I try not too. But my questions have gone unanswered and I feel constantly dismissed. Do doctors just judge your condition on looks or what? Can they not hear? I have no cartilage left in my thumb and other joints are on the same path. I am only 50 years old and my hand surgeon says this is very abnormal and that I should find a rhumy I like and stick with him or her until I get some answers. I am sick and tired of trying to get some help and feel more like giving up and living with this than trying to do something about it. Sorry for mouthing off I am not normally a complainer. Any and all information would be very much appreciated. I am ususally very self motivated and would love to be able to help myself as much as possible. Thank you once again for your kindness.
