Sherrie,

I don't know too much about the metho. Just know about the Imuran or Azathioprine. Imuran is an immunosuppressant. It is used with people who have had transplants to suppress their Immune system. As you can see it is also used to treat RP. As with all the meds that us RPer's use Imuran doesn't work for all. I am very fortunate that my rheumy treated the RP aggressively. I was on semi high doses of pred and started out on 100 mg of Imuran and worked up to 150 and came down from there. I now take 100 mg a day of the Imuran and pred only when I flare. Some say that you shouldn't take Imuran for long term but it seems to be doing the trick and I have had no major ill side effects. My dr. says don't rock the boat if we don't have to. The biggest problems that I have with the Imuran is having a suppressed immune system you get everything that goes around. Our 7 yr old had the chicken pox a few years ago and I had to move out of the house so I didn't get shingles. That can be the pits when a kid wants their Mommy when they are sick. Maybe someone else will help you with the metho.

Lots of LoveGlenda
