Guest guest
Well, I saw my new ENT today. HE was wonderful also. Gosh. I really feel blessed to have 99% of my new drs that are absolutely wonderful. ANd I did all that worrying for nothing ( as usual) LOL He looked down my throat and said that my vocal cords were inflammed but felt it was from acid reflux. I do too. About my swallowing problem. He said that I'm not crazy. ( fooled me there) and that the reason I can't swallow liquids and have no problems with thicker foods is that I have lost my swallowing sensation. Liquids go down faster and by the time my body realizes I'm swallowing there is too much in my throat, so it spasms to try to stop the liquids to go into my lungs. This can be caused from a number of things. Neuropathy ( which I have in my hands and feet) medications and old age ( I took myself out of that catagory) LOL It can be treated by teaching me how to swallow differently. First, more slowly. He is sending me to a speech specialist that also deals with swallowing problems. If she wants to run CT's or any other tests she will order them. So the visit went well and now I'm going to go to the bank and the used book store ( are you jealous Squeek?) I'm almost out of books. Then I will come home and stay warm. It is only 42 here now and I'm freezing. Will keep warm by the fire and read. hugs to you all
Guest guest
, That's really interesting about the swallowing. Mine is not that bad, but I definitely find myself choking more often than I used to. I'm glad you liked the ENT. Take care and bundle up!!
