I certainly would not advise chelation until MUCH more healing is behind you.

Others on this list can offer you their experiences. He would definitely have an

easier time getting rid of the metals with a more intact gut.... in fact, there

is evidence that SCD can allow the body the body to naturally chelate toxic

metals.

We did start DMPS after four months of SCD, and have seen very good

results...more language, more interaction with others, ect. I am concerned

about some of the things you listed that he is eating right now...pork rinds,

raisins, pineapple(cooked?). Of course, I don't know what food allergies turned

up that you need to avoid besides the orange and chicken that you mentioned.

Dried fruits are definitely an advanced food, so I think you should pull back on

the raisins. Certainly everyone is different, but my opinion is that four

months is just too early to be giving any raw fruits or veggies, too. That's

why I asked if the pineapple was cooked. Pork rinds...I believe there was a

discussion a month or so back where veteran SCDers recommended that they be

reserved for further along when more healing has taken place. As far as the

Singulair for inflammation...have you consider doing hyperbaric oxygen

treatments instead of a medication? We will begin 40 hours of hyperbarics

tomorrow on prescription of our DAN doctor primarily because of the same test

that you got results from regarding the inflammation levels. The normal

reference range was 100-160, and our son's levels were over 600. If you want to

email me off list, I can tell you a little more about it, and I'd be glad to

give you our personal progress as he goes through it in the next couple of

weeks.

DMSA suppositories and yeast problems

our DAN doctor thought we should go ahead and start DMSA

suppositories for chelation. the porphyrin test showed evidence of

mercury and lead and the neoptrine test was elevated so we will

start singulair to reduce the inflammation of his immune system.

also, we are starting secretin cream and will be increasing b12

shots to every 2 days from every 3 days.

i heard that the yeast almost always gets out of control during

chelation and was wondering if i should put my 33 mos old on

nystatin ahead of time and throughout the chelation process. if so,

how much?

my 33 mos old son has been on SCD for 4.5 mos now and is stuck on

applesauce and eggs, grape juice, pineapple juice, pork rinds, fruit

leather & raisins. just recently we started adding back some of the

items that he was having delayed allergy reactions to (chicken and

orange juice) but we can only give those items to him once per wk.

he is still a picky eater but my gutt feeling is that his gutt is

starting to heal & his yeast is under control. is there a chance his

gutt may not be healed enough to begin chelation?

I'm sorry to admit that it wasn't until I read Meleah's response to your post

that I caught the list of things he is currently eating. I absolutely agree

with her that it is WAY too soon for raisins.... and in my opinion, too soon for

fruit leather as well.

But, the biggest red flag I see here is pork rinds. I know they are listed as

legal..... but, I sure as heck wish they weren't. I would pull these out

IMMEDIATELY. I think they are the most likely culprit if you are not seeing the

progress you would like on SCD.

It is FAR, FAR too soon to be using these.... and even when someone has been on

SCD for quite a long time and symptoms have abated greatly, I believe pork rinds

should only be used as an occasional snack. Ideally, in my opinion, they should

be avoided completely!

The most significant thing I can point out here to support my anti-pork rind

tirade for YOUR child is that he is self-limiting to these foods..... as you

say, he is " stuck on " this small list of foods. I definitely think they are

impeding progress for him. If I were you, I would start over.... toss the pork

rinds, put away the raisins and fruit leather. The dried fruits need to be

reserved for WAY down the road..... but honestly, I would suggest you " just say

no " to pork rinds.

I second all of that, and if you feel like...Well, great! What in the world am

I going to feed him then?...just ask for some help with suggested foods. I

really do love the " beyond the intro diet " chart under the food preparation

section at pecanbread.com. Even if you don't stick to it perfectly, it gives

you a really good idea of the types of foods that are most easily digested.

Meleah,

I tried emailing you off-list, but it bounced. I would be

interested in hearing about this.

I'm really computer illiterate, so I usually can't figure out how to email

someone off list. My email is below. Let me know if it bounces back again,

and we'll figure it out.

Hmm...I'll have to fiddle around with this. Not sure if it will work with my

speech software. Thanks for the info though. At least now I know what to be

trying to do.
