We want to suppress our immune system so it doesn't have all those cells to attack. We take immunosuppressant medication ( metho, imuran, cytoxan, etc) to suppress our immune system. ( well, some of us do) The Prednisone also lowers our resistance to infection. At least this is how I understand it. LOL I think I need to do some new research. This would make a great topic for our next newsletter. I think we all get confused as to how our body is acting. Especially with all the meds we take. I know at first,my first reaction was to boost my immune system.. Thought that would make me all better. NOT!! It only makes way for more of the little beasties to come out and attack. LOL Go figure.
