Guest guest
I have been on SCD almost a year (few more weeks) and I had the same problem as your daughter almost the entire time I've been scd. I didn't think the diet was working and many times was very tempted to leave it. But the reason I wasen't seeing improvements was my own fault. The bloating has stopped since I did re-intro and cut out most fruits and when I do have them I only eat maybe 1 serving a day. I get very bloated after eating bananas. Also I have had to cut out all dairy (except goat) and nuts for the time being. When you started the diet did you introduce foods quickly? Nuts, peanut butter? Since she wakes up with a flat tummy and at night its bloated there must be something she is eating that her tum is not tolerating right now. That was the case with me. I'm not an expert, hopefully someone else will have other ideas but it sounded an awful lot like myself. I hope you can figure it out! Guest guest
I have the same thought about the fruit. Some people just can't tolerate fruit well even if it is SCD legal. Everyone is different, so figuring out what her body can and cannot handle is not always easy. Since she did well with intro, but the bloating started once you began to introduce these different fruits, I'd cut out fruit. Stick with the easier to digest veggies instead like zucchini, green beans, spinach. Meleah Bloating increase after Re-Intro diet Hi, My daughter has been on SCD for a year. No obvious improvement. Recently, we did Intro diet again. Using zucchini for soup and duck instead of chicken because she can't eat carrot (oxalate issues) nor chicken (as per IgG testing). After Intro, we introduced applesauce (goldern delicious), banana (very ripe), avocado, butternut squash. Introducing slowly. I noticed that her bloating has increased after the Intro Diet. She has been bloated ever since starting SCD a year ago but a few days ago, it got worse. She wakes up with a flat tummy and by night, is very bloated. Any idea what could be causing this? Anyone ever experience this? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Guest guest
She must be reacting to something else that you're giving her. This is not unusual. We could not do any nightshades or lily family for a year or two. We do eat them now (four years later but in fairly limited quantity - about once a week). I wouldn't want to push it. It could be bananas or avocados. I would wonder about apples too. My family doesn't have trouble with them but I've read enough posts about children who can't consume them. Also, are you peeling the apples? Maybe her gut hasn't healed enough yet and it's too much fibre? Perhaps get more nutrients into her via fresh juice (veggie and fruit)? Just some suggestions.
