Itchy mouth is a sign of a true anaphylactic allergy - Not sensitivities or

intolerances but a true anaphylactic allergy. My husband knows immediately when

he has eaten something with fish or peanuts as his mouth and throat itch -

Just thought I'd let you know about the itching as many people tell us they did

not know that about food allergies.

My daughter on the other hand has a severe immediate reaction with a

sore itchy mouth and upset stomach(1 drop of yogurt)..which probably

is a true allergy.

,

I think you may be right with most cases of itchy mouth...as I am

scared to try the yogurt with her again...her reaction has gotten

stronger as we tried the yogurt a second time.

My son has anaphylacitc to peanuts now..so I am more careful with

both of mine.

But my kids did also get itchy mouths to much food in the past...even

the skin on an apple...and that is not allergy ...

It can be very difficult to tell what is really allergy, especially

when they are soooo reactive with skin, etc. etc. when they are so

young...

My advice is to be very careful when it comes to reactions with the

mouth , as a young child can not necessarily tell you what is

happening. Some allergy testing might be helpful...as my son only

tested allergic to peanuts..and he is still intolerant to so much

food....Hopefully allergy testing might pick up any Anaphylaictic food

allergies.

Kind regards,

Cathy

my daughter is only 2. once in a while she'll tell me her throat

hurts. it doesn't seem to be connected with a cold. i just looked

back on our food journal though and it didn't seem to happen

immediately after eating, more like an hour later. but i'll keep an

eye on it. if it was anaphylactic, would i see her trying to scratch

her neck or being panicky?

Since childhood, my husband got that itchy mouth reaction from cantaloupe....

but, interestingly enough, as we discovered a few years ago, not to ORGANIC

cantaloupe. We've since concluded that what he thought for many years was an

allergy to cantaloupe, was really an allergic reaction to the pesticides.

>Silvia,

Don't panic...A sore throat can be caused by many things.

She could have a virus..many 2 year olds seem to pick up a new one

everyday. Maybe her tonsils bug her once in a while, just a change in

weather can make your throat itchy.

My ezcema kid(my daugther) also had severe acid reflex(since a baby),

and that can cause a sore throat.as the acid burns the back of the

throat. The scd has pretty much cleared that up, but if she eats

something she is not ready for it can come back.

If she smells bad or has a bad taste in her mouth after eating, or

sleeping it may be acid reflex(gerd).

It sounds like you are doing a good job with the food journals

etc...it is difficult to figure out delayed reactions to foods...I've

been there.

If she gets a sore throat 1 hour after eating a certain food...I would

be concerned....as she is probably not telling you about the hurting

throat until it gets bad.

I would put her on the most no-allergic scd foods for now.You may

figure this out on your own. Allergy testing might be a good idea!

I hope she is not eating any peanuts or nuts.yet..that's not a good idea!

Anaphylactic Can occur many hours after eating a food.

If she has difficulty swallowing, or has any symptoms you are

concerned about after eating a certain food...I would not hesitate to

go see a doctor.!

If you can tell us what she is eating, supplements and all, maybe

someone could tell you what foods may be a problem.

My could only eat organic bananas too!

I think they spray them to ripe or so they don't ripen too fast.

Or is it pesticides too?

thanks for this useful info. i definitely think this is what's going

on. i looked back on our journal and i think the fried eggs might be

giving us a problem. i was poaching them for a while and i guess i'll

go back to doing that again. this is the only fried food we eat. i

try to fry them with very little oil and low heat but i guess it's

still irritating. another reason i want to start yogurt is so we can

stop eating so many eggs!
