Hello, I have been reading the posts for quite a long time now.I

think it is time that I introduced myself.

I have c.p. for 8 years now, I started off with numerous stents to

try to widen the bile duct. I have p.d.13 ercps later, 56lbs lighter,

and 7 stents put in and taken out, I was no further forward, infact

it seemed I was going backwards, where the stents had been the duct

had closed up on its own with scar tissue.

I was refered to my surgeon and had a Beger procedure nearly 2 years

ago.Life was wonderful for the first 18 months(once I had got on my

feet, so to speak after surgery)then I started having new pain.

This last month I have been back to London and had a MRCP with a

contrast of some sorts(sorry I can never remember the names of

anything)this was to stimulate the pancreas to see how the ducts were

performing.I went back last week for my results, GOOD NEWS, the

surgeon has done a wonderful job all the ducts are free from stones

and biliary sludge and are draining beautifully.

If you have good news then its a bit like a coin there has to be BAD

NEWS. Why am I having pain? I asked the consultant.

I just cant believe it , now they have sorted out the congential

defect, the pancreas has decided to have acute attacks with no

prompting from anything.I dont believe my luck. C.P. is hard enough

to deal with, but with my p.d.it didnt seem so bad as there was a

physical reason why I have pancreatitis. I truely thought and

believed that once I had corrective surgery that it would be so much

better, I didnt expect a full cure but an improvement.

If you all ready have c.p. for a number of years while you go through

the system and hope to be partly cured and then find out that the

pancreas is going to misbehave, what do you do next? I just dont know.

I dont need further surgery at the moment the consultant said at this

time they did not want to " put me at risk with further surgery " .O.K.

I can understnad that, they offered me opiots for pain relief, but I

am going to try and not go there at the moment. I am looking into the

anti oxidant ,I was very intrested to read about them on here. London

are going to keep a very close eye on me, but I do feel a little bit

on my own, that is why I decided to post on here.Sorry that it is

practially a book, but I thought I would put it all down in one hit. I

wish everyone a pain free day as possible. Lesley(UK)
