Fever and Doc Band Baby

My son is 4 1/2 months old and has been in a Doc band for a little over 2 weeks

for his plagiocephaly. The first night he did not sleep in it. The second day he

got his 4 month checkup and vaccines and therefore had a little fever so we

chose to keep it off one more night. The third night he slept all night in it,

he did wake up several times and I rocked him back to sleep. He did good for a

few nights, waking a few times but able to go back to sleep. Then our entire

family got this horrible flu-like cold that lasts about 2 weeks. My older son

and I have had it the worse with 103+ fevers for days but thankfully the baby

only gets a temp at night and it stays under 101. Turns out he also had a

rumptured ear drum and infection which could be causing the temp. As a result he

wakes up after a couple hours of sleeping with a temp so I remove the band to

make him more comfortable and bring the temp down. It has been about a week now

where he has not slept with his band all night long. He's fine during the day

with wearing it and even naps for 2+ hours in it. Is this going to play a

significant impact in his progress??? What do most parents of banded babies do

when their child has a fever??? At the beginning of treatment they suggested a 6

week treatment period. I fear that if he needs to go longer in it that we will

have to purchase a second band. Since we are paying out of our pocket and I am

still on an unpaid maternity leave, that is not an option. This band was a

stretch.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,

Tara
